Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad hold off the visiting Hammond Central Wolves (Hammond, IN), 2-1 in a non-league test.

With the win, Merrillville upgrades its record to 2-11 on the season. The Pirates host Crown Point (Crown Point, IN) to battle the Bulldogs in a Duneland test on Tuesday, April 25. The Bulldogs come into the test with a record of 6-6. Crown Point lost 15-10 in their recent league test against Valparaiso (Valparaiso, IN)

With the defeat, Hammond Central falls to 4-5 on the season. The Wolves host Calumet New Tech (Gary, IN) to battle the Warriors in a non-league test on Thursday, April 27.
