Illinois High School Baseball - Johnston City holds off Pope County
May 5, 2021: Johnston City, IL 62951 Johnston City Indians (Johnston City, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Pope County Pirates (Golconda, IL), 4-0 in a non-league test.
With the win, Johnston City upgrades its record to 2-2 on the season. The Indians travel to Carmi-White County (Carmi, IL) to battle the Bulldogs in a Black Diamond East test on Monday, May 10. The Bulldogs come into the test with a record of 5-3. Carmi-White County won 4-3 in their recent non-league test against DuQuoin (DuQuoin, IL)
With the defeat, Pope County falls to 1-7 on the season. The Pirates host Gallatin County (Junction, IL) to battle the Hawks in a Greater Egyptian test on Thursday, May 6. The Hawks come into the test with a record of 1-3. Gallatin County lost 6-4 in their recent league test against Galatia (Galatia, IL)
