Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles (Lake Station, IN) boosters were content Friday as they observed their football squad smash the host South Newton Rebels (Kentland, IN), 42-6 in a non-league match.

The Fighting Eagles (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Illinois Crusaders (Big Rock, IL). The Crusaders come into the non-league match with a 0-1 record. In their last match, Illinois Crusaders was routed by Central Maryland Christian Crusaders (Sykesville, MD), 30-12, in a non-league match.

Coming up next, the Rebels confront the Covington Trojans (Covington, IN) in a non-league battle, on Friday, August 29. South Newton will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record. The Trojans go into the battle with a 1-0 record after their 51-0 non-league win over Tri-County (Wolcott, IN).
