North Carolina High School Volleyball - New Hanover tips North Brunswick
August 26, 2025: Wilmington, NC 28401 In Tuesday's league challenge, the host New Hanover Wildcats volleyball team scored a close 3-2 triumph over the North Brunswick Scorpions.
The Wildcats (3-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington, NC). The Hurricanes come into the non-league challenge with a 5-0 record. In their last challenge, Cape Fear Academy edged Wilmington Christian Academy (Wilmington, NC), 3-2, in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Scorpions play the Topsail Pirates (Hampstead, NC) in a Carolina Coast 6A/7A challenge, on Thursday, August 28. North Brunswick will attempt to upgrade on its 3-3 season record. The Pirates come into the challenge with a 3-2 record after their 3-1 league win over Ashley (Wilmington, NC).

Maille Smith lead the offensive attack with 15 kills on 49 attemps with only 3 errors to hit .245. Lindi Holt had 7 kills on 25 attempts with only 2 errors to hit .200. The Wildcat Libero Justine McCague had one of her best matches with 19 serves/1 error and 9pts, 30 digs, 32 receptions and was all over the court for the cats. The Wildcats jumped out to a 2 set lead with strong offense, defense and serving. The scorpions rebounded with scrapy consistent play to win the next 2 sets. The Wildcats focussed as a team pulled out the victory to win our first conference math.
