August 28, 2025: Sylva, NC 28779 The Smoky Mountain Mustangs (Sylva, NC) football trounced the visiting North Buncombe Black Hawks (Weaverville, NC), 54-13 in Thursday's non-league outing.
The Mustangs now sport a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they host A.C. Reynolds for a non-league outing on Thursday, September 4. Smoky Mountain will clash with a Rockets squad coming off a 8-0 non-league win over Maiden (Maiden, NC). The Rockets record now stands at 2-0.
With the defeat, North Buncombe drops to 0-1 on the year. The Black hawks travel to Madison (Marshall, NC) to confront the Patriots in a non-league contest on Thursday, September 4. The Patriots enter the contest with a record of 0-0.
