The Newport Greyhounds walloped the visiting Marked Tree Indians football team by a score of 38-6 in Friday's non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Greyhounds face the Batesville Pioneers (Batesville, AR) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, September 5. Newport will attempt to improve on its 1-0 season record. The Pioneers enter the challenge with a 0-1 record after their 45-7 non-league loss to Searcy (Searcy, AR).

The Indians (0-1) will now prepare for their outing against Manila (Manila, AR). The Lions come into the non-league outing with a 0-1 record. In their last outing, Manila was overwhelmed by Paragould (Paragould, AR), 35-8, in a non-league outing.
