In Saturday's league match, the host Mallard Creek Mavericks football squad scored a decisive 50-0 triumph over the Hopewell Titans.

The Mavericks (4-1) will now prepare for their match against North Mecklenburg (Huntersville, NC). The Vikings come into the 3A/4A Queen City match with a 2-3 record. In their last match, North Mecklenburg smashed Harding University (Charlotte, NC), 51-0, in a league bout.

The Titans now own a 3-2 record. They play next when they travel to West Charlotte for a 3A/4A Queen City bout on Friday, October 4. Hopewell will encounter a Lions team coming off a 32-14 league win over West Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC). The Lions record now stands at 3-1.
