Texas High School Football - Fabens thwarted by Burges

September 5, 2025: Fabens, TX 79838

Burges Mustangs (El Paso, TX) boosters left the game content Friday as they observed their football squad top the host Fabens Wildcats (Fabens, TX), 33-14 in a non-league test.

The Mustangs now hold a 2-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Canutillo for a 5A-2 Region I District 1 test on Thursday, September 11. Burges will meet a Eagles squad coming off a 57-32 non-league win over Montwood (El Paso, TX). The Eagles record now stands at 1-1.

With the defeat, Fabens drops to 1-1 on the campaign. The Wildcats host Bowie (El Paso, TX) to play the Bears in a 4A-1 Region I District 1 challenge on Friday, September 12. The Bears go into the challenge with a record of 0-2. Bowie lost 28-7 in their recent non-league challenge against Jefferson (El Paso, TX)
