The Dougherty Trojans (Albany, GA) basketball knocked off the visiting Mitchell County Eagles (Camilla, GA), 76-68 in Monday's league test.
The Trojans (2-0) will now prepare for their test against Westover (Albany, GA). The Patriots go into the test with a 0-0 record.
The Eagles now own a 0-1 record. They play next when they host Seminole County for a test on Tuesday, December 11.
Dougherty won 76-68 against Mitchell County on Monday with the help of Elijah West, who scored 13 points. Dougherty Trojans JV grabbed the lead against Mitchell County (Camilla, GA) on a three-pointer from West in the second period and held on.
With a 22-point second quarter, Dougherty broke away early and ran up the lead to 36-31 by halftime. With 21 total fouls, Dougherty played an aggressive game.
West found success all over the court for Dougherty, making 57% (4-for-7) of shots attempted while also sinking 100% (3-for-3) of free throws attempted.
