The senior post player who considered not playing basketball this year emerged and the difference maker for Christ Prep. He set a team single season record for Blocks per Game and led the Great Plains Conference in that category as well. He averaged over 7 points and 9 rebounds per game and recorded 5 double doubles on the year. Newkirk snagged a team high 18 rebounds in the loss to Alta Vista on Dec. 1st, two shy of the school record of 20 (Andrew Volz). Other awards were: Most Improved Player - Nate Anderson. Anderson emerged as a starter on varsity, largely because of his courage and aggressiveness especially on the defensive end. Patriot Award - Caleb Bunce. Bunce, a senior, was a glue guy and encourager throughout the season. He was always ready to step-up whenever called on. "
