Mississippi High School Basketball - Independence fells Strayhorn

January 15, 2019: Independence, MS 38618

Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Strayhorn Mustangs (Sarah, MS), 57-42 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Independence upgrades its record to 10-11 on the season. The Wildcats travel to Water Valley (Water Valley, MS) to clash with the Blue Devils in a 3A Region 2 bout on Friday, January 18. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 4-5. Water Valley lost 63-42 in their recent league bout against Holly Springs (Holly Springs, MS)

Next up, the Mustangs clash with the New Site Royals (New Site, MS) in a 2A Region 1 bout, on Friday, January 18. Strayhorn will attempt to upgrade on its 5-10 season record. The Royals go into the bout with a 16-7 record after their 44-42 league loss to Ingomar (New Albany, MS).
