March 23, 2018: Columbus, NC 28722 Polk County Wolverines (Columbus, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Charles D. Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), 6-3 in a league challenge.
The Wolverines now own a 5-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Avery County for a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 27. Polk County will face a Vikings squad coming off a 12-0 league loss to Madison (Marshall, NC). The Vikings record now stands at 0-7.
With the loss, Charles D. Owen falls to 5-2 on the campaign. The Warhorses travel to Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC) to face the Cougars in a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge on Tuesday, March 27. The Cougars enter the challenge with a record of 3-3. Mountain Heritage lost 16-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Pisgah (Canton, NC)
