Ohio High School Volleyball - Northview tips Anthony Wayne
September 17, 2016: Whitehouse, OH 43571 Northview Wildcats (Sylvania, OH) supporters left the game in high spirits Saturday as they observed their volleyball squad hold off the host Anthony Wayne Generals (Whitehouse, OH), 2-1 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Wildcats battle the Perrysburg Yellowjackets (Perrysburg, OH) in a Northern Lakes match, on Tuesday, September 20. Northview will attempt to advance on its 8-2 season record. The Yellowjackets come into the match with a 6-5 record after their 3-0 non-league win over Findlay (Findlay, OH).
With the loss, Anthony Wayne drops to 7-3 on the campaign. The Generals travel to Central Catholic (Toledo, OH) to battle the Fighting Irish in a non-league match on Saturday, September 17. The Fighting Irish come into the match with a record of 1-6. Central Catholic lost 3-0 in their recent league match against Notre Dame Academy (Toledo, OH)
Match Summary
TOLEDO - In the Kats second match of the Irish Invitational, they played NLL rival and current tied league leader, along with Bowling Green, at 5-1 atop the NLL. The Kats, who play host to the Generals this Thursday at Northview, in their third meeting of the month, were ready for revenge from their previously loss back in August. The Kats made a statement in the first set winning 25-15, however, they fell behind early in set two and ended up loosing 15-25 to force a third set. With pride at hand and a statement to be made to the rest of the NLL teams, the Kats came out at full strength winning set three 25-20.
Leading the Kats was junior Rachel Phalen with 12 kills, hitting .409, on 22 attempts and only 3 errors. Also playing a vital role in the victory was sophomore Right Side, McKenna Hall with 7 kills, hitting .375, and senior Sydney Boerst with 7 kills on 14 attempts, hitting .357. Junior setter, Aly O'Lenic contributed 32 assists and 7 digs.
