Indiana High School Basketball - Mooresville nips Mt. Vernon
February 5, 2019: Mooresville, IN 46158 Mooresville Pioneers (Mooresville, IN) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Mt. Vernon Marauders (Fortville, IN), 54-47 in a non-league bout.
With the win, Mooresville upgrades its record to 12-6 on the season. The Pioneers travel to Martinsville (Martinsville, IN) to play the Artesians in a Mid-State bout on Friday, February 8. The Artesians go into the bout with a record of 6-14. Martinsville lost 62-55 in their recent non-league bout against Providence Cristo Rey (Indianapolis, IN)
Next up, the Marauders play the Lawrence Central Bears (Indianapolis, IN) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 9. Mt. Vernon will attempt to upgrade on its 8-8 season record.
First Quarter
Mooresville hit on 5-10 fgs (including1-3 from behind the arc). Mt. Vernon hit on 4-9 fgs (including 3-6 from behind the arc). The Pioneers were led by Jon Eineman with 5 pts. Mt. Vernon got 3-pt baskets from Keith Rupert, Peyton Meadors, and Eric Heard to lead their scoring with 3 pts. each. Both teams struggled with turnovers. Mooresville recorded 5 and Mt. Vernon 4 in this opening quarter of play. The score tied at 11-11.
