North Carolina High School Basketball - Alexander Central tops Ashe County
December 19, 2018: Taylorsville, NC 28681 Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) and the visiting Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC), saw Alexander Central's basketball squad knock off Ashe County by a tally of 51-40.
With the victory, Alexander Central improves its record to 5-2 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC) to play the Bears in a non-league challenge on Thursday, December 27. The Bears come into the challenge with a record of 5-6. Bunker Hill won 62-55 in their recent non-league challenge against St. Stephens (Hickory, NC)
Next up, the Huskies play the Alleghany Trojans (Sparta, NC) in a Mountain Valley 1A/2A challenge, on Friday, December 21. Ashe County will attempt to improve on its 2-4 season record. The Trojans come into the challenge with a 1-4 record after their 42-37 league win over Elkin (Elkin, NC).
