In Wednesday's league match, the host East Surry Cardinals basketball team scored a good 54-37 triumph over the Mount Airy Bears.

In their next game, the Cardinals confront the Elkin Elks (Elkin, NC) in a Northwest match, on Friday, January 9. East Surry will attempt to move on its 8-1 season record. The Elks enter the match with a 3-4 record after their 49-37 league loss to Alleghany (Sparta, NC).
