The Newton County Cougars basketball team (Decatur, MS), was nudged 43-37 in Thursday's non-league battle with the visiting Union Yellowjackets (Union, MS)

The Yellowjackets now possess a 4-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Enterprise for a non-league battle on Friday, November 30. Union will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 70-20 non-league win over Stringer (Stringer, MS). The Bulldogs record now stands at 5-0.

The Cougars (1-4) will now prepare for their battle against Leake County (Walnut Grove, MS). The Gators come into the non-league battle with a 5-2 record. In their last battle, Leake County edged Kosciusko (Kosciusko, MS), 66-48, in a non-league battle.
