Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Cypress Springs Panthers (Cypress, TX) and the host Madison Marlins (Houston, TX), saw Cypress Springs's basketball squad hold off Madison by a count of 50-44.

With the victory, Cypress Springs upgrades its record to 14-7 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Cy-Fair (Cypress, TX) to play the Bobcats in a 5A Region III District 17 challenge on Friday, January 3. The Bobcats come into the challenge with a record of 9-8. Cy-Fair lost 95-68 in their recent non-league challenge against Cypress Woods (Cypress, TX)

Next up, the Marlins play the Westbury Rebels (Houston, TX) in a 5A Region III District 20 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Madison will attempt to upgrade on its 7-6 season record. The Rebels come into the challenge with a 1-8 record after their 65-63 non-league loss to Scarborough (Houston, TX).
