The Porter Ridge Pirates (Indian Trail, NC) football routed the host Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), 45-7 in Friday's league bout.

In their next game, the Pirates face the Garinger Wildcats (Charlotte, NC) in a Southwestern 4A bout, on Friday, October 12. Porter Ridge will attempt to advance on its 4-3 season record. The Wildcats enter the bout with a 2-5 record after their 31-14 league win over East Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC).

The Patriots (4-3) will now prepare for their bout against David W. Butler (Matthews, NC). The Bulldogs enter the Southwestern 4A bout with a 5-2 record. In their last bout, David W. Butler walloped Myers Park (Charlotte, NC), 39-22, in a league bout.
