Illinois High School Basketball - Mt. Olive nips Southwestern

Mt. Olive Wildcats (Mt. Olive, IL) followers went home content Wednesday as they observed their basketball team nudge the host Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), 50-49 in a non-league game.

In their next game, the Wildcats face the Litchfield Purple Panthers (Litchfield, IL) in a non-league game, on Tuesday, January 4. Mt. Olive will attempt to move on its 6-5 season record.

With the defeat, Southwestern moves to 4-7 on the year. The Piasa birds travel to Columbia (Columbia, IL) to face the Eagles in a non-league game on Monday, December 27. The Eagles enter the game with a record of 7-3. Columbia won 79-33 in their recent league game against Roxana (Roxana, IL)
