New York High School Softball - Letchworth tipped by Avon
May 10, 2019: Avon, NY 14414 The Avon Braves softball team scored 7 runs and limited the visiting Letchworth Indians to 5 in the Braves league triumph on Friday.
With the triumph, Avon moves its record to 8-6 on the year. The Braves host Williamson (Williamson, NY) to clash with the Marauders in a non-league game on Saturday, May 11. The Marauders come into the game with a record of 9-1. Williamson won 16-7 in their recent league game against Sodus (Sodus, NY)
In their next game, the Indians clash with the Warsaw Tigers (Warsaw, NY) in a Livingston County Division 2 game, on Saturday, May 11. Letchworth will attempt to move on its 5-3 season record. The Tigers come into the game with a 8-0 record after their 7-4 non-league win over Keshequa (Nunda, NY).
Game Summary
Avon opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on Parker Hughes' rbi double. Letchworth tied it in the top of the third on a one out double by Natalie Smearing and an rbi single by Abby Buck. The Braves came back with a big bottom of the third as Keni Read started the rally with a one out single. The Braves proceeded to score six runs on three walks and three singles, all with two outs. Alyssa Betron had an rbi single during the rally. Letchworth came back with four runs in the top of the fourth to complete the scoring. Dana Calbro, Kristin Mills and Smearing hit consecutive singles for the Indians in the inning.
