August 23, 2018: Toledo, OH 43608 The Central Catholic Fighting Irish volleyball team (Toledo, OH), was dropped 3-0 in Thursday's non-league challenge with the visiting Northview Wildcats (Sylvania, OH)
The Wildcats (2-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Clay (Oregon, OH). The Eagles enter the non-league challenge with a 1-1 record. In their last challenge, Clay defeated Ashland (Ashland, OH), 2-0, in a non-league challenge.
Next, the Fighting Irish meet the Bowling Green Bobcats (Bowling Green, OH) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, August 25. Central Catholic will attempt to move on its 0-4 season record. The Bobcats enter the challenge with a 0-1 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Eastwood (Pemberville, OH).
Match Summary
TOLEDO - In the third match of the year for the LadyKats, they were able to start strong and finish the match winning in three consecutive sets, 25-16, 25-17, 30-28. Tonight's win starts Northview at 2-1 overall, tied for the best start for a Northview team since 2013.
Leading the efforts for the LadyKats was senior, outside hitter, with 16 kills, hitting .271 and contributing 10 digs; her first double-double of the season. Also leading the LadyKats was junior, outside hitter, Hannah Frame with 9 kills, hitting .167, and 14 digs. Defensively, sophomore, libero, Emma Dukate, contributed a team high 19 digs, and sophomore, defensive specialist, Morgan Brixey chipped in 9 digs. As a team, the LadyKats had 12 aces. Sophomore, setter, Clare Kwiatkowski, dished out 30 assists.
The LadyKats return to play on Saturday morning, at home, verse Clay. Freshman start at 10:00 A.M., JV at 11:00 A.M. and Varsity at 12:30 P.M.
