The Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars football team (Niobrara, NE), was beaten 52-22 in Friday's league challenge with the host Boyd County Spartans (Spencer, NE)

The Spartans (2-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Clearwater/Orchard (Clearwater, NE). The Cyclones come into the D1 District 7 (8 Man) challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, Clearwater/Orchard was beaten by Elgin/Pope John (Elgin, NE), 36-14, in a league challenge.

The Cougars now sport a 1-3 record. They take the field next when they host Neligh-Oakdale for a D1 District 7 (8 Man) challenge on Friday, October 2. Niobrara/Verdigre will meet a Warriors team coming off a 55-6 league win over North Central (Bassett, NE). The Warriors record now stands at 3-1.
