Texas High School Football - United can't get by Vela

August 29, 2019: Laredo, TX 78045

Vela Sabercats (Edinburg, TX) fans left the game content Thursday as they saw their football team hold off the host United Longhorns (Laredo, TX), 51-46 in a non-league game.

The Sabercats (1-0) will now prepare for their game against Hanna (Brownsville, TX). The Golden Eagles come into the non-league game with a 0-1 record. In their last game, Hanna was tipped by McAllen Memorial (McAllen, TX), 42-40, in a non-league game.

The Longhorns now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Alamo Heights for a non-league game on Friday, September 6. United will meet a Mules team coming off a 31-14 non-league loss to New Braunfels (New Braunfels, TX). The Mules record now stands at 0-1.
