Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Starkville Yellowjackets (Starkville, MS) and the visiting Center Hill Mustangs (Olive Branch, MS), saw Starkville's basketball squad hold off Center Hill by a count of 63-62.

With the victory, Starkville upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets travel to Murrah (Jackson, MS) to play the Mustangs in a 6A Region 3 challenge on Friday, January 11. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 8-5.

Next up, the Mustangs play the Columbus Falcons (Columbus, MS) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 8. Center Hill will attempt to upgrade on its 17-1 season record. The Falcons come into the challenge with a 6-10 record after their 43-33 league win over South Panola (Batesville, MS).
