Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers (Mt. Vernon, MO) and the host Monett Cubs (Monett, MO), saw Mt. Vernon's basketball squad hold off Monett by a tally of 69-62.

With the victory, Mt. Vernon improves its record to 16-8 on the campaign. The Mountaineers host Marion County (Philadelphia, MO) to confront the Mustangs in a Freelance challenge on Friday, January 25. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 3-15.
