Arizona High School Basketball - Copper Canyon thwarted by Shadow Ridge
January 30, 2020: Glendale, AZ 85305 The Copper Canyon Aztecs basketball team (Glendale, AZ), dropped 76-56 in Thursday's league battle with the visiting Shadow Ridge Stallions (Surprise, AZ)
The Stallions now possess a 11-12 record. They put it on the line next when they host Tolleson for a 6A Southwest battle on Tuesday, February 4. Shadow Ridge will confront a Wolverines team coming off a 89-44 non-league win over San Luis (San Luis, AZ). The Wolverines record now stands at 7-15.
The Aztecs (4-20) will now prepare for their test against Kofa (Yuma, AZ). The Kings go into the non-league test with a 8-11 record. In their last test, Kofa went down by Cibola (Yuma, AZ), 71-28, in a league test.
First Quarter
SR opened a big lead in the 1st qtr behind some nice interior passing to # 10 Austin Smalley who had three buckets.
Second Quarter
SR threatened with a 20 pt margin but #2 Jerome Jackson hit some big threes for CC to cut the lead to 13 at halftime.
Third Quarter
Didier Iradukunda and Malachi Felix had a nice run for CC to cut the lead to 10 going into the 4th qtr.
Fourth Quarter
SR finally pulled away to a 20 pt margin behind the guard play of #24 Quan Moore
