Illinois High School Basketball - Jersey tops Gillespie
January 9, 2023: Jerseyville, IL 62052 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Jersey Panthers (Jerseyville, IL) and the visiting Gillespie Miners (Gillespie, IL), saw Jersey's basketball squad knock off Gillespie by a tally of 62-53.
With the victory, Jersey improves its record to 14-6 on the campaign. The Panthers host Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL) to play the Eagles in a Mississippi Valley challenge on Thursday, January 12. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 5-7. Civic Memorial lost 65-58 in their recent league challenge against Mascoutah (Mascoutah, IL)
Next up, the Miners play the Vandalia Vandals (Vandalia, IL) in a South Central challenge, on Thursday, January 12. Gillespie will attempt to improve on its 11-9 season record. The Vandals come into the challenge with a 13-6 record after their 68-29 non-league win over Farina South Central (Farina, IL).
