Monte Vista Monarchs (Spring Valley, CA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Mount Miguel Matadors (Spring Valley, CA), 63-39 in a league bout.

With the victory, Monte Vista upgrades its record to 8-9 on the campaign. The Monarchs travel to Pacifica (Oxnard, CA) to play the Tritons in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 13. The Tritons come into the bout with a record of 2-12. Pacifica lost 57-17 in their recent non-league bout against Victory Christian Academy (Chula Vista, CA)

Next up, the Matadors play the Granite Hills Eagles (El Cajon, CA) in a Grossmont - Hills bout, on Tuesday, January 16. Mount Miguel will attempt to upgrade on its 3-16 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 4-7 record after their 48-33 non-league win over San Diego (San Diego, CA).
