The Mayo Spartans basketball team scored 71 points and limited the visiting Winona Winhawks to 49 in the Spartans non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Spartans now possess a 9-5 record. They play next when they travel to Orono for a non-league game on Saturday, January 18. Mayo will confront a Spartans team coming off a 86-53 league win over Jefferson (Bloomington, MN). The Spartans record now stands at 7-3.

With the loss, Winona falls to 1-13 on the campaign. The Winhawks travel to Century (Rochester, MN) to confront the Panthers in a non-league game on Thursday, January 23. The Panthers go into the game with a record of 5-9.
