Penobscot Valley Howlers (Howland, ME) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Stearns Minutemen (Millinocket, ME), 58-41 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Penobscot Valley upgrades its record to 5-6 on the season. The Howlers host Calais (Calais, ME) to play the Blue Devils in a C North bout on Saturday, January 20. The Blue Devils go into the bout with a record of 8-2. Calais won 55-46 in their recent league bout against Narraguagus (Harrington, ME)

Next up, the Minutemen play the Lee Academy Pandas (Lee, ME) in a D North bout, on Wednesday, January 24. Stearns will attempt to upgrade on its 5-8 season record.
