In Wednesday's non-league contest, the host West Wilkes Blackhawks basketball team scored a good 45-29 win over the Elkin Buckin' Elks.

The Blackhawks (6-10) will now prepare for their contest against Surry Central (Dobson, NC). The Golden Eagles come into the 2A Foothills contest with a 10-4 record. In their last contest, Surry Central was topped by East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC), 57-55, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Buckin' Elks battle the North Stokes Vikings (Danbury, NC) in a 1A Northwest contest, on Friday, January 24. Elkin will attempt to better on its 7-10 season record. The Vikings come into the contest with a 11-5 record after their 46-31 league loss to Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC).
