The Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) basketball felled the visiting Alleman Pioneers (Rock Island, IL), 65-51 in Wednesday's non-league test.
The Comets (15-9) will now prepare for their test against Bureau Valley (Manlius, IL). The Storm go into the Three Rivers - East test with a 8-9 record.
The Pioneers now own a 3-18 record. They play next when they host Geneseo for a Western Big 6 test on Friday, January 26. Alleman will encounter a Maple Leafs squad coming off a 75-13 league loss to Quincy (Quincy, IL). The Maple Leafs record now stands at 1-16.
