Wartburg Central Bulldogs (Wartburg, TN) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Coalfield Yellow Jackets (Coalfield, TN), 40-35 in a league bout.

With the victory, Wartburg Central upgrades its record to 8-6 on the campaign. The Bulldogs travel to Rockwood (Rockwood, TN) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 30. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 10-9.

Next up, the Yellow Jackets confront the Greenback Cherokees (Greenback, TN) in a non-league challenge, on Monday, January 29. Coalfield will attempt to improve on its 1-9 season record. The Cherokees come into the challenge with a 2-12 record after their 40-36 league loss to Oakdale (Oakdale, TN).
