Franklin Broncos (Franklin, VA) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Surry County Cougars (Dendron, VA), 21-17 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Franklin upgrades its record to 8-8 on the campaign. The Broncos host Lakeland (Suffolk, VA) to play the Cavaliers in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 1. The Cavaliers come into the bout with a record of 2-10. Lakeland lost 76-46 in their recent non-league bout against Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, VA)

Next up, the Cougars play the Windsor Dukes (Windsor, VA) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 2. Surry County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record.
