With the victory, Garden City upgrades its record to 9-4 on the campaign. The Bearkats travel to Big Spring (Big Spring, TX) to play the Steers in a non-league challenge on Monday, January 8. The Steers come into the challenge with a record of 9-13. Big Spring lost 50-40 in their recent non-league challenge against Monahans (Monahans, TX)

Next up, the Mustangs play the Klondike Cougars (Lamesa, TX) in a 1A Region I District 8 challenge, on Friday, January 12. Sands will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record.
