Canby Cougars (Canby, OR) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Hillsboro Spartans (Hillsboro, OR), 50-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Canby upgrades its record to 8-4 on the campaign. The Cougars host Parkrose (Portland, OR) to play the Broncos in a 5A Northwest Oregon bout on Monday, January 8. The Broncos come into the bout with a record of 1-9. Parkrose lost 60-51 in their recent non-league bout against Estacada (Estacada, OR)

Next up, the Spartans play the Putnam Kingsmen (Milwaukie, OR) in a 5A Northwest Oregon bout, on Monday, January 8. Hillsboro will attempt to upgrade on its 5-6 season record. The Kingsmen come into the bout with a 8-5 record after their 72-53 league loss to Wilsonville (Wilsonville, OR).
