The Henning Hornets basketball team scored 51 points and limited the host Verndale Pirates to 40 in the Hornets non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Hornets now possess a 1-8 record. They play next when they travel to New York Mills for a A Section 6 game on Tuesday, January 14. Henning will confront a Eagles team coming off a 67-39 non-league win over Bertha-Hewitt (Bertha, MN). The Eagles record now stands at 6-5.

With the loss, Verndale falls to 1-9 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Walker-Hackensack-Akeley (Walker, MN) to confront the Wolves in a A Section 5 game on Friday, January 10. The Wolves go into the game with a record of 11-1. Walker-Hackensack-Akeley won 71-55 in their recent non-league game against Cass Lake-Bena (Cass Lake, MN)
