Herndon Hornets (Herndon, VA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Meridian Mustangs (Falls Church, VA), 45-43 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Herndon upgrades its record to 1-7 on the campaign. The Hornets travel to Centreville (Clifton, VA) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Wildcats come into the bout with a record of 1-6. Centreville lost 60-41 in their recent non-league bout against Lake Braddock (Burke, VA)

Next up, the Mustangs play the James Wood Colonels (Winchester, VA) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Meridian will attempt to upgrade on its 5-5 season record.
