The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Independence Mustangs (Independence, IA) and the visiting Marion Wolves (Marion, IA), observed Independence's basketball team knock off Marion by a score of 57-49.

The Mustangs (3-4) will now prepare for their challenge against New Hampton (New Hampton, IA). The Chickasaws come into the non-league challenge with a 1-5 record. In their last challenge, New Hampton was knocked off by Charles City (Charles City, IA), 80-68, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Wolves encounter the Clear Creek-Amana Clippers (Tiffin, IA) in a WAMAC - West challenge, on Saturday, January 4. Marion will attempt to improve on its 3-4 season record. The Clippers come into the challenge with a 5-4 record after their 77-30 league win over Williamsburg (Williamsburg, IA).
