Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Southern Lee Cavaliers (Sanford, NC) and the visiting Triton Hawks (Erwin, NC), saw Southern Lee's basketball squad hold off Triton by a count of 53-52.

With the victory, Southern Lee upgrades its record to 10-1 on the campaign. The Cavaliers travel to Pinecrest (Southern Pines, NC) to play the Patriots in a 3A/4A Sandhills challenge on Friday, January 5. The Patriots come into the challenge with a record of 6-3. Pinecrest lost 52-39 in their recent non-league challenge against Fairmont (Fairmont, NC)

Next up, the Hawks play the Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, December 27. Triton will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record. The Vikings come into the challenge with a 8-1 record after their 79-71 league win over Lee County (Sanford, NC).
