Springtown Porcupines (Springtown, TX) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Venus Bulldogs (Venus, TX), 42-39 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Springtown upgrades its record to 9-15 on the campaign. The Porcupines travel to International Leadership of Texas Keller (Fort Worth, TX) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 3-4. International Leadership of Texas Keller won 48-34 in their recent non-league bout against Mineral Wells (Mineral Wells, TX)

Next up, the Bulldogs play the Life Waxahachie Mustangs (Waxahachie, TX) in a 4A Region II District 10 bout, on Tuesday, January 3. Venus will attempt to upgrade on its 4-16 season record. The Mustangs come into the bout with a 6-16 record after their 45-19 non-league loss to Connally (Waco, TX).
