The Person Rockets (Roxboro, NC) basketball nipped the host Halifax County Comets (South Boston, VA), 48-46 in Thursday's non-league test.
The Rockets (9-1) will now prepare for their test against Cedar Ridge (Hillsborough, NC). The Fighting Red Wolves go into the 3A Central test with a 1-9 record. In their last test, Cedar Ridge was tipped by Western Alamance (Elon, NC), 37-34, in a non-league test.
The Comets now own a 5-4 record. They play next when they host George Washington for a Piedmont test on Tuesday, January 2. Halifax County will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 54-50 non-league loss to Norfolk Academy (Norfolk, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 1-6.
