Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Waverly Wolverines (Waverly, NY) and the visiting Athens Wildcats (Athens, PA), saw Waverly's basketball squad overcome Athens by a tally of 54-42.

With the victory, Waverly improves its record to 4-1 on the campaign. The Wolverines travel to Newark Valley (Newark Valley, NY) to confront the Cardinals in a Section 4 Interscholastic - South Large challenge on Tuesday, January 3. The Cardinals come into the challenge with a record of 3-2.

Next up, the Wildcats confront the Troy Trojans (Troy, PA) in a Northern Tier challenge, on Friday, January 6. Athens will attempt to improve on its 7-3 season record.
