Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones (Springfield, IL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Peoria Lions (Peoria, IL), 73-63 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Sacred Heart-Griffin upgrades its record to 5-6 on the season. The Cyclones host Springfield Southeast (Springfield, IL) to play the Spartans in a Central State Eight bout on Friday, January 5. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 1-10. Springfield Southeast lost 62-55 in their recent non-league bout against Manley (Chicago, IL)

Next up, the Lions play the East Moline United Panthers (East Moline, IL) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 2. Peoria will attempt to upgrade on its 7-7 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 10-3 record after their 49-46 non-league win over Belvidere North (Belvidere, IL).
