The Heppner Mustangs (Heppner, OR) basketball felled the visiting Vernonia Loggers (Vernonia, OR), 50-41 in Friday's non-league test.
The Mustangs (10-2) will now prepare for their test against Grant Union (John Day, OR). The Prospectors go into the 2A Blue Mountain test with a 4-8 record. In their last test, Grant Union went down by Burns (Burns, OR), 47-46, in a non-league test.
The Loggers now own a 5-5 record. They play next when they travel to Knappa for a 2A Northwest test on Wednesday, January 4. Vernonia will encounter a Loggers squad coming off a 61-36 non-league loss to Open Door Christian Academy (Troutdale, OR). The Loggers record now stands at 2-7.
