The De Smet Jesuit Spartans (St. Louis, MO) basketball toppled the host Marquette Mustangs (Chesterfield, MO), 61-50 in Monday's non-league bout.

The Spartans now possess a 9-1 record. They play next when they travel to Moline for a non-league bout on Saturday, January 4. De Smet Jesuit will play a Maroons team coming off a 72-55 non-league loss to Morton (Morton, IL). The Maroons record now stands at 13-2.

With the loss, Marquette falls to 3-1 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Howell Central (St. Charles, MO) to play the Spartans in a non-league bout on Friday, January 3. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 2-6. Howell Central lost 58-55 in their recent league bout against Timberland (Wentzville, MO)
