In Friday's non-league outing, the Johnston City Indians (Johnston City, IL) basketball squad edged the visiting Waltonville Spartans (Waltonville, IL), by a count of 45-44.

The Indians (17-11) will now prepare for their outing against Goreville (Goreville, IL). The Blackcats go into the Black Diamond - West outing with a 19-9 record. In their last challenge, Goreville was edged by Vienna (Vienna, IL), 86-63, in a league challenge.

Next up, the Spartans play the Hamilton County Foxes (McLeansboro, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, February 11. Waltonville will attempt to improve on its 11-16 season record. The Foxes come into the challenge with a 12-17 record after their 64-44 league loss to Carmi-White County (Carmi, IL).
