The Kankakee Valley Kougars (Wheatfield, IN) basketball nipped the host East Chicago Central Cardinals (East Chicago, IN), 61-55 in Thursday's non-league test.

The Kougars (8-8) will now prepare for their test against Calumet New Tech (Gary, IN). The Warriors go into the non-league test with a 1-0 record. In their last test, Calumet New Tech got by Wheeler (Valparaiso, IN), 43-41, in a league test.

The Cardinals now own a 0-1 record.
