Royal Highlanders (Simi Valley, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting La Canada Spartans (La Canada, CA), 8-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Highlanders now own a 8-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Canyon for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 19. Royal will battle a Cowboys squad coming off a 22-13 league loss to Highland (Palmdale, CA). The Cowboys record now stands at 2-1.

With the loss, La Canada falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Spartans host South Pasadena (South Pasadena, CA) to battle the Tigers in a challenge on Tuesday, March 22. The Tigers enter the challenge with a record of 6-3. South Pasadena won 18-4 in their recent league challenge against Blair (Pasadena, CA)
